Beginners Guide to ChatGPT

ChatGPT has garnered widespread attention over the past few months. Making news headlines globally thanks to its innovative take on artificial intelligence.

In this article, I will be providing a quick summary of ChatGPT. So without further ado, let’s jump right in.

Simply put, ChatGPT is a natural language processing (NLP) tool developed by OpenAI that uses machine learning to enable chatbots to generate human-like responses to user input.

Essentially, ChatGPT is designed to be able to understand and generate responses to a wide range of topics while also being able to maintain a coherent conversation.

Launched in November of 2022, it is built on top of OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 family of large language models, which is a deep learning model trained on a pre-existing dataset of human language.

To use ChatGPT, you enter a prompt or question, and the chatbot will generate a response based on its training and the context of the conversation. The chatbot can then continue the conversation by responding to subsequent inputs.

As a result, it has several use cases. For instance, it can be used as an alternative to google search, write code or believe it or not tell jokes.

For example, I asked the chatbot to “give me the recipe for pizza in one sentence” and it responded with the following.

“To make pizza, mix together flour, yeast, salt, and water to form a dough, roll out the dough and place it on a baking tray, spread tomato sauce and your choice of toppings over the dough, and bake in the oven until the crust is crispy and the toppings are cooked.”
